With the name of our town being Oriental, there is much oriental design to be found in art as well as in local homes. Dragons running through the streets at both our own and Chinese New Year brings veryone out for these festivities. I adapted oriental themes in many areas such as the front door, deck and loft rail design and many other points. All of the work in these photos is of my own design and building. The blue heron was my second attempt at stained glass work and is for my wife’s passion of bird watching. The two level open staircase was particularly challenging as it had to be built without actual access to the space which was filled with a temporary stair structure in order to get an occupancy permit. The view of the full moon from the deck is one of the pleasures of living here. Total building time was four years.
